WANG Guangyan, Han ethnicity, was born in August 1967. He has a postgraduate education and holds the degree of Doctor of Education, Communist Party of China (CPC) member.

He is currently member of the CPC Leading Group, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and Secretary of the Party Committee of Departments Directly Affiliated to the MOE.
