Duties and responsibilities:

i. General management of compulsory education, development of policies to promote the balanced development of compulsory education, and drafting of development policies and basic guidelines for high school, preschool and special education;

ii. Proposing policies and measures to strengthen compulsory education in rural areas in conjunction with relevant departments, and submission of policies and measures to ensure equal access to compulsory education;

iii. Drafting compulsory education standards, and regulation of moral attitudes to be adopted in compulsory education in conjunction with relevant departments;

iv. Developing teaching materials for basic education, and deepening curricula and educational reforms;

v. Providing guidance for moral education, extra-curricular education and safety education in primary and middle schools; and

vi. Providing guidance on the use of IT in teaching, and direction on hardware deployment in libraries and laboratories.
