Let me give you two examples to illustrate how quantum information technology can be useful to us. First, quantum teleportation technologies can help us develop a more secure means for transmitting information which will significantly benefit the development of national defense, government governance, finance and even individual privacy protection. China has been conducting world leading research in this area. In the next 5 to 10 years we aim to create an integrated quantum cryptography network to better safeguard information security.

Second, quantum computing can be applied to solve many computing-related difficulties, such as weather forecasting, drug design and physical material design. Last year, Chinese scientists successfully built the world's first photon quantum computing machine. We hope that within 3 to 5 years, it will become as powerful as today's fastest supercomputers in solving a range of specific problems.
