TIAN Xuejun attends launch ceremony of Shanghai Hong Kong University Alliance

On November 6, Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun attended the ceremony to inaugurate the Shanghai Hong Kong University Alliance (SHUA) in Shanghai, and delivered a speech.

Tian said that the MOE firmly supported educational cooperation and exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong and would facilitate the integration of Hong Kong’s education system into national educational development. He hoped that the SHUA would strengthen cooperation between both sides and contribute to progress in Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and add momentum to the implementation of major national strategies.

Supported by the MOE, the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Shanghai Municipal Government and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR and jointly initiated by Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Hong Kong University, the SHUA was established by eight universities in Shanghai and eight universities in Hong Kong, with the view to foster greater exchange and cooperation among universities in both places.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR Carrie Lam, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai WEN Tiehui, Vice Director of Hong Kong Liaison Office CHOU Hong and presidents of the 16 SHUA member universities.
