President Xi attends National Education Conference and delivers keynote speech

The National Education Conference 2018 was opened in Beijing on September 10. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the Conference and delivered a keynote speech. On the occasion of the 34th Teacher’s Day in China, President Xi extended his warm greetings and good wishes to all teachers and educators across the country. He applauded their great contribution to China’s development and rejuvenation through their work to impart knowledge and moral values to younger generations in line with the Party’s educational guidelines. He said that teachers, as engineers of the human soul and transmitters of culture, played a pivotal role in disseminating knowledge and imparting truth, and molding young minds and shaping hearts in the new era. He urged all Party members and the general public to help create a social environment where teachers are respected and education is prioritized. He also pledged to raise teachers’ political, social and occupational status and prestige, laying the groundwork to allow them to make an even greater contribution to the Party’s major goal of serving the people.
