Tian Xuejun attends 11th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week

On July 26, the 11th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week under the theme “A New Beginning for Educational Cooperation, A New Future for Cultural Exchange”, jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the Guizhou Provincial People's Government, opened in Guiyang. Guizhou Provincial Party Secretary Sun Zhigang, Governor Shen Yiqin, Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun, as well as Indranee Rajah, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education of Singapore, Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Minister of Education of Myanmar, and Mrs. Sengdeuane Lachanthaboune, Minister of Education and Sports of Laos, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Vice Minister of Education Tian reiterated the positive contributions made by the Education Cooperation Week in deepening China-ASEAN education and humanities exchanges in the past decade. He expressed his wish for all parties to continue promoting educational exchanges and cooperation for shared development by seizing opportunities presented by the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up and the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership, as part of the effort to lay a more solid foundation for a China-ASEAN community of shared future and responsibility.

At the opening ceremony, honorary certificates were presented to a number of ASEAN students who had won the Outstanding International Students Award, a merit-based scholarship. Subsequently, the Global e-Commerce Talent Network, initiated by Alibaba, a Chinese multinational e-commerce, Internet, AI and technology conglomerate, and Silkroad on the Cloud, a big data platform for international cooperation among Belt and Road countries, were launched.

During the week-long event, an international seminar on country and regional studies, the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Forum and an Educational Achievements Exhibition, will be held, amongst other events.
