In a recent interview with China Central Television about the transmission of traditional culture on campus, the Minister of Education Chen Baosheng said the MOE had been promoting the teaching of traditional culture on campus to ensure its survival among younger generations.

He identified three decisive ingredients underpinning the success of this endeavor. First, teachers themselves should develop a taste for traditional culture. Second, more elements of traditional culture, especially the most enduring classics, should be included in primary school textbooks. And third, culturally vibrant campuses should be created to allow for a more immersive experience. Traditional opera, dancing and calligraphy courses, among other disciplines also should be made compulsory.
