The chief of China’s Ministry of Education and that of the British Council signed a memorandum of understanding on the mutual recognition between the British English test and China’s English proficiency level in a high-level Sino-British people-to-people exchange conference in Shanghai on Dec 6.
After the conference, China’s Ministry of Education Test Center and the British Council will set up a joint working group for further negotiation and promotion of their research.
This new move marks an important step for the Chinese foreign language proficiency test to become synonymous with international standards. It’s also significant for construction of the Chinese language capability evaluation system and mutual recognition between the Chinese English test and world-renowned English test.
