Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng visits Russia

Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng led an official delegation to Russia from Apr. 17 to 21. Huai met with Valery Falkov, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education. He also went to Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, and the Saint Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.

Huai signed a memorandum of understanding on interministerial cooperation with Falkov and witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between prestigious Chinese and Russian universities. He also attended a ceremony in which Viktor Sadovnichiy, Rector of Moscow State University, received an honorary doctorate from Peking University.

The visit aimed to put into action the cooperation agreement previously reached by the leaders of China and Russia by strengthening practical cooperation in the field of education between the two countries. The Russian government and educational community valued the visit and warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on promoting cooperation in joint talent cultivation, scientific research, vocational education, and digital education. They also concluded a number of agreements.

During his visit, Huai met with Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, and Rahim Saidzoda, Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan, both of whom attended the 8th Meeting of Ministers of Education of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States. Huai also visited the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education.

Zhang Hanhui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia, and other officials took part in related activities.
